When a horse sweats, it not only loses moisture, but also body salts such as sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium and magnesium. These substances play an essential role in muscle metabolism. They are called electrolytes. If these electrolytes are not replenished, the stamina decreases. With serious shortages there is a risk of dehydration and colic. If a horse cannot sustain an effort properly or feels listless, it may be necessary to supplement electrolytes.

Pavo E’lyte: complete electrolyte supplement
Pavo E’lyte is an electrolyte supplement and contains all the necessary body salts in the right proportions. Especially those proportions are important for a good supplement. More magnesium has been added, because a horse also loses this mineral if it sweats a lot and its role in the body should not be underestimated. Many other electrolytes contain no or only a minimal amount of magnesium. There are no wheat products in it, so it is also suitable for a gluten-free diet.

Replenish electrolytes in summer and winter
A horse does not sweat only in the summer when it is hot. In the winter, a supplement of electrolytes may also be required before and after a heavy workout or competition. When horses are shaved and dry up quickly, it sometimes seems as if they sweat little. Make sure they also get enough electrolytes. A major indication of deficits is lifeless behavior.

Horses often have to get used to the taste of electrolytes. Start with a small amount and build it up. Mix Pavo E’lyte with the food. With difficult eaters, adding apple sauce or apple juice sometimes helps. It is also possible to administer it, for example mixed with apple sauce, via an empty, cleaned worm syringe.
