Controlling grubs with nematodes

Grubs eat the roots of grass, causing it to die and creating bare patches. Fortunately, nematodes are an excellent way to control grub infestations.

Nematodes are microscopic worms. They occur naturally in the soil, but you can also apply them to a plant or leaf. They are the natural enemies of grubs and other pests. Nematodes penetrate their prey and use it as a food source and breeding ground. The grub will die within a few weeks, and the nematodes will leave their prey and search for new grubs.

Combining nematodes with pheromone traps

The best time to combat grubs (the larvae of the rose chafer beetle) is six weeks after the rose chafer beetle flight. With the rose chafer beetle trap, you know exactly when the flight is. The rose chafer beetle trap attracts and catches male and female rose chafer beetles. Most eggs have already been laid at the time of the flight, but the females you catch will no longer be able to lay the rest of their eggs.

Instructions for use

1. Mix the entire tray of nematodes with one litre of water, regardless of how many nematodes you have.
2. Stir the nematodes thoroughly into the water. This is your concentrate.
3. Depending on the package size, dilute the concentrate in a watering can with water.
4. Pour the mixture evenly over the soil.

Be sure to read the enclosed instructions carefully and keep the soil slightly moist after treatment so that the nematodes can continue to do their job. For large areas, simply use the NemaSprayer. Sow grass seed in bare patches to restore the lawn.

Want to store nematodes? Store in a cool place (4-8°C) after receipt, for example in the refrigerator. Do not expose the packaging to direct sunlight. Use the contents of the bag in one go and do not store the prepared mixture.
